Transportation from Athens International Airport

After your arrival in Athens, you have several transportation options to reach the city center and continue to your final destination.

We recommend using the X96 airport express bus, which costs €6.
The bus stop is located just outside the airport’s departures exit, and tickets can be purchased from the nearby kiosk.

Alternatively, you can take the metro (Line 3 – Blue Line) from the airport, which stops at Syntagma station in the city center.
From there, you can continue on the Blue Line to Piraeus or transfer to the Red Line (Anthoupoli – Elliniko) at Syntagma to reach Omonia station, the closest metro station to the conference venue and the recommended hotels.

Lastly, you may opt for a taxi, with an approximate fare of €50 to the city center. Please note that prices may vary depending on your final destination.

Conference Guidelines & Etiquette

1. Consistency.

In order to get from your hotel to the venue (address: 36 Aristotelous str, 10433, Athens - Temple of Hellenic Ethnic Religion. Bell: EKATHBOΛΟΣ) on the Day 1 on time, please make sure to check information of the transit directions of city public transportation or taxi options by the Google Maps (https://tinyurl.com/46wsp8dh) in advance. In order to be on time and proceed according to the schedule, it is better to arrive earlier than to make others wait. Consistency will help to keep the conference schedule on track and ensure that speeches and workshops are well planned.

2. Time & Speeches.

On the Day 1 and Day 2, for each speaker per organization, there are 12 minutes for the presentation and στο τέλος της κάθε συνεδρίας θα υπάρχει χρόνος για να απαντηθούν σύντομα κάποιες ερωτήσεις. Please note that the Congress' working language is English — if the presenter considers to give the speech in another language, the available time shortens by half (6 min) to interpret into English by a fellow of your group. In order to have a smooth workflow, please forward your presentation file (ppt, pptx, or pdf) to our e-mail address beforehand (using USB is not recommended).

3. Topic: "The Contribution of Ethnic Religions to the formation of European Identity".

On the Day 1, we encourage speakers to focus exclusively on their ethnic religious group. Please, if you have not already done so, fill out the survey form (see link in email) by briefly answering the questions. The questionnaire is an important preparatory task for the Declaration—in order to summarize the positions of the conference in a timely manner and contribute to the greatest extent possible to the drafting of a comprehensive and accurate declaration.

4. Transportation.

If you consider using public transportation — we suggest buying the 5-day ticket from the automatic ticket machines in the metro stations. The 5-day ticket costs €8.20 and gives you unlimited travel on all forms of transport in Athens (metro, electric railway, tram, and buses. It does not include travel to and from the airport). The time starts counting from the moment of the registration in the first ride when touching a ride registration device in a bus, metro or tram.

5. Tag.

Upon arriving at the venue, you receive the #2025ECER attendee kit including the name tag (a pen and a notebook are included). Please, make sure to put the name tag on during all days of the Congress, so that other participants can memorize and recognize you. When publishing contents on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and other social media about the Congress, please add the hashtag #2025ECER

6. Rituals.

Please be prepared to officiate a short ritual, according to your tradition. a) on Day 1 the Opening Ritual will take place at the Temple of the Hellenic Ethnic Religion in Athens. b) on the Day 3 the Main Ritual will take place at the Sacred Altar of Nymphe under the Acropolis of Athens.

7. Lunch.

On Day 1 lunch will be served at the Atitamos restaurant, which serves traditional Greek (Cretan) cuisine. We kindly ask you to submit the form until September 24, 2025 because we have to preorder the main dishes of the lunch in advance.

The restaurant will serve a traditional Greek salad, tzatziki and zucchini balls per 4 people. The lunch costs total 25 € (drinks included) and it needs to be paid additionally in cash on site. The restaurant is located 15 minutes' walk from the conference venue. Transportation to and from the restaurant has been arranged so that there will be no delays either on arrival or on departure.
On Day 2, lunch will be at the Moma restaurant in Monastiraki, which is near the archaeological site of the Ancient Agora.
On Day 3, there's no reservation at a specific restaurant, and everyone is free to go wherever they want.

8. Tour Guide at Ancient Agora.

The tour of the archaeological site of the Ancient Agora in Athens and the museum will be conducted by a professional guide and will last approximately 2 hours. Each participant will receive headphones so that they can hear the guide better. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes (traditional clothes are not recommented) and shoes and bringing a hat, water, and sunscreen. Tickets of entrance to the Ancient Agora cost €20 and are included in the registration fee.

9. Pre-Party.

Please ensure that you arrive in Athens on Thursday, October 2, as there will be a gathering at the Moma restaurant at 8 p.m. for dinner and refreshing cocktails. The restaurant is located in Monastiraki.
